Sitia

Sitia, a charming coastal town located approximately 1 hour away from Kato Zakros, is well worth a visit. Take a leisurely stroll around the shops, savor a cup of coffee by the harbor, indulge in local ice cream, or explore attractions like the Folklore Museum, the Kazarma Fortress, and the Archaeological Museum. The latter houses a wealth of valuable exhibits from the Palace of Kato Zakros, the ancient town of Itanos, and other nearby regions. Sitia holds historical significance as the birthplace of Myson, one of the seven ancient wise men, as well as Vitsentzos Kornaros, the renowned creator of Erotokritos.
